Weekend Mixtapes #29

Oh, we’re early with our weekend mixtapes selection, but there have been quite a few worthy ones this week.

Ukrainian deep house producer Vakula spent some time in London and played some records at Boiler Room, as well as on Alexander Nut’s Rinse.fm show (direct link!) And if that wasn’t enough, here’s a third one recorded after we first posted this article.

Berlin-based Dutchman 2562 (aka A Made Up Sound) hardly gives away mixes, but his set from Amsterdam’s 5 Days Off festival is now available.

Also, you might be interest in Om Unit‘s guestmix for Solid Steel, a new one from Pixelord, and a minimix of unreleased Ital Tek tunes.

Just added: new Truants podcast mixed by Samoyed, Kutmah’s all Sa-Ra mix, and Hepcat Radio with special guest Ikonika

Space Dimension Controller – Welcome to Mikrosector-50

The title track from the forthcoming album by Space Dimension Controller sounds like an amalgamation of everything you could’ve expected to hear on the Electrifying Mojo‘s radio show, one half Prince and another half Juan Atkins, aptly classified as “galactic funk.” If that doesn’t tell you anything, maybe that more recent Jimmy Edgar record is a better reference point. The new SDC album is only two weeks away, R&S Records will release Welcome to Mikrosector-50 on March 4th!

Weekend Mixtapes

The Valentine Mix from Breakbot still does it for me, but then I found this new one on Crazy Birds and it’s just as good. Summer disco vibes.

This Saturday, New York’s MoMa is hosting a Warm Up party featuring an allstar line-up of Four Tet, SBTRKT, Matthewdavid and Falty DL. The latter also has warm up for the Warp Up, a mixtape hosted by The Fader.

Beat Dimension’s Jay Scarlett‘s plays some new music on the latest La Menuiserie podcast, and Daisuke Tanabe has put togehter a promo mix for CDR.

Of course you can go visit Boiler Room‘s website anytime you’re in need for a mix. Recent guest selectors include Scuba, Mount Kimbie (live), Mark Pritchard, Photek, Guido or Space Dimension Controller.
