My Panda Shall Fly & Mau’lin – 15 Keys (KRTS Remix)

Originally released as part of the Beatport-exclusive Project: Mooncircle compilation, New York’s KRTS just put his remix for My Panda Shall Fly & Mau’lin on his SoundCloud page. The compilation came out in November 2014 and is a cross section through the label’s back catalogue, the remix one of its few exclusive tracks. You can listen to the original version on 2014’s Push EP.

In other My Panda Shall Fly related news, there’s a full album —titled Too— coming out on Project: Mooncircle in April 2015.

Kidkanevil – Inakunaru

I said it before and I will say it again: please let there be a second Kidsuke album! While we’re nowhere near any news about that, things aren’t as grim as they seem. Kidkanevil, one half of Kidsuke, is preparing his return on Project: Mooncircle with a full solo album. Judging by the track above, it’s safe to assume that this will get us over the dry period before there’s new Kidsuke material. Pheeeew!

Titled “My Little Ghost” will be out on May 9, 2014. Pre-order from Bandcamp, HHV or Rush Hour.

Deft – Faded

The snippets for the new Deft EP were available on SoundCloud for a while, but only with the release date around the corner comes a full track to listen to. Fans of Blade Runner will associate the name “Voight Kampff” with the movie’s version of a Turing test, a set of questions to tell apart humans from replicants. The Croydon-based producer cites the movie as his inspiration for the music and that’s where the EP got its name from. Available for pre-order from Project Mooncircle and ready for pick-up in all good record stores on September 6th, 2013.

Σclipse – A compilation by Project Mooncircle

Don’t even get me started on free compilations or more specifically free beat compilations. How many have their been, how many do you still remember. I’ve seen enough for a lifetime, mediocre collections watering down my love for instrumental hip hop, the so-called “beat scene”, inflationary. But as with many things, there is stuff that stands out, one of them being Project: Mooncircle‘s new Σclipse compilation that puts quality over quantity.01. Submerse – Quiet Lights
02. Sieren – The View
03. Daixie – Days Like Them
04. Robot Koch – Gorom Sen Returns
05. Rain Dog – Like A Lame Man Stepping
06. Daisuke Tanabe – LaLa
07. Lomovolokno – Eena (KRTS Eclipse Edit)

You can buy this on cassette on the label’s Bandcamp page, where it’s also offered as free download. Enjoy.

Kidkanevil & Daisuke Tanabe – Ghostgirl (KRTS Remix)

2012 not only saw the 10th anniversay of German label Project: Mooncircle, they also delivered some strong releases that year, most notably the Kidsuke album and KRTS’ The Dread of an Unknown Evil. Today, the label is giving away a collaboration of the two, KRTS remixing his label mates Kidkanevil and Daisuke Tanabe. Go ahead and download the track, also make sure to leave your feedback here.

Kidkanevil & Daisuke Tanabe – Kidsuke

Kidsuke - Kidsuke

Cover Artwork

If you are one of our more regular readers, you likely heard about the name Kidsuke by now. The project is the brainchild of Tokyo’s Daisuke Tanabe and UK producer Gerard Roberts, better known as Kidkanevil, an admirer of the Japanese culture and member of the Ninja Tune affiliated Stateless. Both are also alumni of 2010’s Red Bull Music Academy in London, where they met for the first time in person and where the idea for a collaboration sparked. Two years later, following many file transfers and two meetups in Tokyo and London, Berlin’s Project Mooncircle has released the album.

Listening to Kidsuke takes you to your old room at your parents’ house, one of the dearest places of your childhood. Through the first 10 minutes, you see yourself stepping through a hallway of memories, unfade images of your stuffed animals, happily remember melodies from that old music box. It’s a sound most familiar to you, yet the melodies are unknown. There is Aphex Twin’s precision, the quirkiness of Mouse on Mars, Dim Dim’s playful moments, or Teebs doing his chimes. But are these really happy childhood memories, or does the music edge towards the dark and the cynic? An old nightmare of yours?, a future noir-fairytale?, some weird anime plot? It’s not evidently a dark mood on the record, but it made me wonder about the musicians’ intentions at times. Kidsuke has its melancholic moments, yet there are optimistic tones as in both Harmonic parts (probably my favourites, too), sweet seductivons in Frogs In A Well or Ghostboy, the uplifting MoOoOoOn. Versatile yet consistent record, an album to that you can’t avoid listening on repeat. My verdict is you should buy this!01. IntroOoOoO

Kidsuke – Tiny Concrete Block

The Kidsuke album, a collaboration between Kid Kanevil and Daisuke Tanabe, is still over a month away from release. With no intention to tease you, let me say it’s one of the most exciting records I have heard all year and you should be looking forward to hearing it. The good folks at Brownswood serve a full track from the album on their new electr*c 3 compilation and you guessed right, it’s the track you can listen to above!

The compilation is available as of today and can buy the CD or digital from their Greedbag store or from iTunes.

Kidkanevil & Daisuke Tanabe – Kidsuke

Talk about a joint album by RBMA alumnis Kidkanevil and Daisuke Tanabe has been around for a while now, but an official announcement has only been made recently. Since then, Gilles Peterson revealed one of the album tracks, which will premiere on his own Browswood electr*c compilation end of September. As of today, there are some more snippets on Project Mooncircle‘s SoundCloud, the label that will release the full album on November 2nd, 2012. Listen to this!

You can pre-order Kidsuke on 2-LP or digital from Bandcamp or HHV.

fLako – Lonely Town (K2 Remix)

Haven’t enjoyed a Kaytronik remix as much as this one in a while. fLako‘s original was a smooth tune already, but I think this subtle house touch adds a quite a bit to it.

I’m not sure whether this will actually become available, but the stream should suit you for a while. Also, if haven’t got Carving Away The Clay yet, you should consider buying it.

fLako – Broken Toy

Exclusive release for the Berlin Record Store Day 2011 by the one called fLako and this one is doing some serious damage. And this track is only a taster to the full 10-inch which now available from HHV and goes by the name of “Carving Away The Clay EP”

Other outlets such as Rough Trade have this one up for pre-order, same goes for the digital release on iTunes. So get a proper taste and download Broken Toy, then think about getting the rest.

DZA – Supershark EP

The new EP from Russia’s DZA is one of those records you’ll likely want to showcase in the front your Expedit shelf, but there’s really more to it than just that. On Supershark, he delivers what the label Project: Mooncircle/Jus Like Music rightly calls a mayhem of beats and synthesizers, bleepy and rich of bass.

DZA - Supershark EP

A1. Apple Joo
A2. Easy Go
A3. Star Shark
B4. Miami Cocktail feat. Nando Pro
B5. Twat
B6. I’ll never Shirk School
B7. Shark Battle Tool

To make yourself a picture, you can listen to two of the tracks in full length. And at the end of the week you can get the entire release on limited white vinyl or as digital download. Pre-order your copy on Bandcamp or get if from regular shops like HHV and Rush Hour.

fLako – Loose Bells

Robert Winter is one of Germany’s most admirable young photographers, known for his photos of the music scene in and around the city of Cologne. Following several press shots for fLako, Robert has just completed a video for the Chilean-German beatmaker and producer, who’s got a new album coming out in late May.

The album is called The Mesektet and will be out 2-LP, 7-inch and digital release via Project Mooncircle. In the meantime, you can also download a free track.

Robot Koch vs Boxcutter – Cloud City (Ital Tek Remix)

A remix by Ital Tek of the yet-to-be-released Songs For Trees And Cyborgs album by Robot Koch. While there’s no news on remixes yet, the actual album will drop on October 1st, 2010 on Project Mooncircle.

The album features collaborations with 1000names, Doshy, RQM, Graciela Maria and Boxcutter, a preview from the latter is available on SoundCloud.
