Jimmy Edgar – Sex Drive (Jon Convex Remix)

As much as I anticipated the last Jimmy Edgar album, in the end I was a bit disappointed. Couple of good tracks, but a bit tiring as a full album. Anyway, next up is a 12-inch with remixes by Jon Convex and John Talabot. Like the album, it will be out on Hotflush Recordings with the release date set to October 8, 2012.

If you want to catch Jimmy Edgar on the road, have a look at the dates for the Majenta Tour. Also, download Jimmy’s Creepy Autograph Mixxx for DJ Broadcast.

Jimmy Edgar – Switch Switch

I’m really excited about the forthcoming Jimmy Edgar album on Hotflush Recordings, and that’s not only for the cover artwork that reminds me of my favourite Grace Jones records of all time (not the one shown below!) Well, this track proves my excitement is justified, but listen for yourself.

It’s actually just the b-side from the new single This One’s For The Children, but it will also appear on the Japanese version of the album. Titled Majenta, it is expected in stores in the first week of May.

Hotflush: It’s Not A Sound

Very short, but nicely shot documentary on the Hotflush label. Among the interviewees are Sigha, George Fitzgerald, Machinedrum/Sepalcure, and Scuba himself.

The video was made by ISYS, who you might remember from the Boiler Room football tournament.

Mount Kimbie – Carbonated

I remember having seen Mount Kimbie‘s video for Carbonated when it first appeared several months ago. Turns out I never bothered to post it. My bad, it’s a really nice video so I’m going to share it with everybody else who hasn’t seen it.

Like the videos for Before I Move Off and Would Know, this one was directed by Tyrone Lebon.

Sepalcure – Needle Exchange 080

With their much anticipated debut album out since Monday, it was only the question of who would get a mixtape by New York duo Sepalcure. Travis and Praveen went with selt-titled, with whom they also had a little chat.

As always, I suggest you get the download, tune in and read what Sepalcure have to say in this interview.

Their self-titled album is available now, you can pick copies on CD, LP and digital directly from the Hotflush Store – or the record dealer of your choice.

Sepalcure – Pencil Pimp

We gave you a taster of the new Sepalcure single Pencil Pimp some weeks back. It’s been released since then and now there’s an official music video directed by Thor Brenne under art direction of longtime Sepalcure cover designer Sougwen Chung.

Up next for the duo of Machinedrum and Braille is the release of the self-titled Sepalcure album on Hotflush Recordings. It will hit stores on LP, CD and digital on November 21, 2011.

Sepalcure – Pencil Pimp

Just as I finished my post on Machinedrum, this email from Hotflush came in, announcing one last single before the self-titled debut album from Sepalcure finally sees its release.

While the title track will also appear on that album, the flipside I’m Alright is exclusive to this single and available as free download. You can pick up your copy starting in less than two weeks on November 7th, only to be followed by the album on the 21st.

Arkist – Hotflush Podcast #17

Judging from the number of plays on iTunes, Rendezous by Bristol’s Arkist is already my tune of the year – with nothing else coming close. Needless to say how excited I was to see his guestmix for the Hotflush podcast.

Scuba – Adrenalin

As mentioned the other day, the new DJ-Kicks will be put together by Hotflush founder Scuba. As a first taster, !K7 has posted this track off the mix CD.

Sounds a bit like a house rework of Before (After), but how’s that a bad thing? The Adrenalin EP will be out on Hotflush at an undisclosed date on September 26, 2011. The DJ-Kicks CD will be available starting October 25, 2011.

Sepalcure – Love Pressure Remixed

To borrow an expression from the latest Rush Hour newsletter, Machinedrum has been “remarkably on-form” these days. New solo material out on LuckyMe, a must-have album on Planet Mu. And together with with Praveen Sharma (otherwise known as Braille) making music as Sepalure, who are about to release a new EP on Hotflush.

A1. Love Pressure (XI Remix)
A2. Love Pressure (FaltyDL Remix)
B1. Every Day Of My Life (Jimmy Edgar Remix)
B2. Down (Daedelus Remix)
Digital Only: Love Pressure (Lando Kal Remix)

Personally, I love the remixes from FaltyDL and Jimmy Edgar, so I can’t wait til these drop on August 15, 2011. Love Pressure Remixed will be available on 12-inch and digital, the cover artwork looks like it’s once again the work of the amazing Sougwen Chung. And I guess this is probably the last release from Sepalcure before their debut album drops.

Mount Kimbie – Maybes (live at Abbey Road)

Watched this video from the Abbey Road Debuts the other week, but you might have noticed it’s been kinda slow around here lately. Being a fan of Mount Kimbie, I thought I share this one with you.

Please comment/like the video here, as I can’t embed the original due to restrictions. Hope the YouTube video stays for the time being.

I think it was SBTRKT, who mentioned on Benji B he had a session recorded at Mount Kimbie for the Debuts series, so better keep an eye open for that one!

XLR8R Podcast by SCB

Best known as the founder of the Hotflush label and for his releases under the name of Scuba, Paul Rose also maintains the SCB moniker for his more house-oriented output. Only recently he has put out a record on Will Saul’s Aus Music and some more can be heard in his new mix for XLR8R.

Scuba & Ramadanman on Hotflush

Two of my favourite artists in “intelligent dubstep” team up for the latest 12-inch on the Hotflush label. On the a-side, label honch Scuba delivers a mellow vibe, while Ramadanman turns the remix on the flipside into a techy stepper.

You can expect the 12-inch in good stores all around the world starting May 31, 2010. This is a vinyl exclusive!

Mount Kimbie Remixes Part 1

Looks like Hotflush Recordings has another must-have release from Mount Kimbie in the pipeline. The new EP features remixes from the likes of James Blake, FaltyDL and Instra:mental.

Watch out for the EP in all good recordstores on April 19, 2010.

Mount Kimbie are also playing throughout Europe for the next couple of months, check their MySpace page for details!

Mixtape Monday #6

My favourite mixtape from last week comes once again from Hotflush Recordings. For the fifth edition of their podcast, San Francisco based Jus Wan put together a nice selection of deep and dubby music. If you haven’t already, subscribe to the podcast!

Soulparlor, a trio of producers and DJs are also the hosts of Germany’s first address for broken beats and soulful vibes, the already legendary You Move Nothing If You Don’t Move Yourself night in Mainz. Only last Saturday, it was 2000black‘s Dego who blessed the place with his records. And following the recordings of Kaidi Tatham & Mark Force and Colonel Red, you can download two hours of Dego’s set.

Viral Radio’s latest show with Hudson Mohawke and Mamiko Motto just went online some minutes ago. Though I haven’t listened to it yet, I’m sure it’s one of the highlights this week. Make sure to check Viral Radio’s archive while you’re at it!  Hudson Mohawke’s mix from Benji B has also been spotted.

Another Dutch recording is the latest offering from The New Worck, who once again managed to get a mixtape from Rednose Distrikt’s very own Aardvarck (did you check his new album?)

One of the most interesting mixtapes was sent to me by Svetlana Industries, a new label based in Serbia. For an unusual and therefore exciting selection of dubstep and hip-hop beats, check out their first minimix.

Most fans of Theo Parrish certainly got his DJ set from The Do-Over already, otherwise I’m more than happy to mention it here.

For the jazz lovers I have one last mix today. Some of my Twitter followers called Blackclassical‘s anniversary mix the best jazz mix of all time. I will let you decide that for yourself.

Nov 12, 2009 Dego’s mix was recorded without permission and removed by request of the artist
