Coco Bryce – Club Tropicana (Jay Hats Redo)

Reprogram No 9 by Baster

On November 23, Dutch label Fremdtunes will release Reprogram, a collection of remixed tracks originally appearing on the label. Over the last couple of weeks, eight of these remixes have been premiered on different platforms and we’re more than happy to bring you the ninth.

Club Tropicana is the title track of the last Coco Bryce album released in March, and it has been reprogrammed by his label mate, the Eindhoven-based producer Jay Hats. Fremdtunes released his debut Birds in June 2013, a genre-defying EP inspired by the sounds of the rainforest (also check out this mixtape).

The other aspect of the Reprogram series is its visual side. Each and every track receives an artwork of its own, and for the ninth track it’s Dutch designer Bas Koopmans aka Baster. Also available in animated form.

And lastly, here’s a download of the tune!

Emufucka – Retrace EP

Until recently, I wasn’t familiar with Tokyo-based producer and RMBA alumni Emufucka, but his forthcoming release on the Dutch Fremdtunes label quickly caught my attention. Featuring a vocal track with the highly underrated Count Bass D, the 10-track Retrace EP comes with six originals plus remixes from My Dry Wet Mess, Jazzo & Melodiesinfonie, Coco Bryce and Quarta330 (of Hyperdub fame!) Let’s have a listen at what the latter two came up with:

All Fremdtunes releases are available from a number of outlets, this new one should follow on its release-date: September 24, 2012.

Mixtape Monday #16

Bristol’s Peverelist, owner of Rooted Records and the man behind the Punch Drunk label, deliveres an exclusive mix for Resident Advisor’s podcast series.

With Splazsh, Werk Discs founder Actress came up with on of the most adventurous albums of the year. Only recently he visited Gilles Peterson to talk about the album, his influences, the usual stuff. Get the podcast!

The duo Mount Kimbie has been among the performers at this year’s 10 Days Off festival. Their live performance is available for download, sets from other performers can be found here.

Coco Bryce recorded a new mix for Pipedown and The Gaslamp Killer played on East Village Radio (stream).

Taken from Mary Anne Hobb’s radioshow, Dam-Funk offers his The Future of Modern Funk for free download.

Rinse FM had Floating Points and Kyle Hall on the same show the other week. Fortunately, you can download (direct link!) that and listen again – don’t let filename fool you!

And lastly, two mixes I only learned about recently: the Colours Amsterdam mix by Beat Dimensions honcho Cinnaman and Analogiques Volume 2 by Fulgeance (click for the first one!)

It's Tunesday (again!)

Announcing Hudson Mohawke‘s upcoming tour through the United Kingdom, his label Warp has posted this bootleg remix of Jodeci. You can download it from the Warp website, where you will also find the tour dates.

Following Pixelord’s Lucid Freaks EP, a set of remixes are already in the queue. A first taster comes from Dutch beatmaker Coco Bryce, who remixed the track Quartz Boy.

The new Daedelus album Righteous Fists of Harmony is just around the corner, reason enough for XLR8R to give you a first preview.

And the last free download comes from FACT Magazine, who are hosting a new track from Krystal Klear for the next seven days only!

Not for download, but definitely worth checking out are the Om Unit remix for Colonel Red, Illum Sphere’s Titan (did you check Super Charged?) and the last couple of uploads from Lukid (as long as they’re online!)
