Broken Vibes, the long-lost documentary about Broken Beat

In December 2006, a trailer to a documentary called Urban Vibes has been uploaded to YouTube. I remember running into the French film crew at the Notting Hill Carnival the summer before and was eager to watch the documentary once completed. Years passed and occasionally I remembered it, searched on Google, but while it was marked complete, I never ended up seeing it. Eventually, I forgot about it.

And then today, the unthinkable happened. Bored at work, I scrolled down my Instagram feed and ran across an interesting post by Mr Beatnick. Another search of Google, not expecting anything, I came across the full documentary which is now available for stream on Vimeo On Demand. Rebranded “Broken Vibes”, you can rent it for only €2 and stream it in Full HD for 48 hours! If you need to be convinced, watch an extended clip the trailer above.

Co-Op Studio Session

The day following last year’s Boiler Room-hosted Co-OP reunion, broken beat veteran producers IG Culture, Seiji, Alex Phountzi and Jazz re:freshed host Adam Rock were joined by torchbearer Henry Wu for a recording session at Play Deep Studios. Whatever comes out of this, I’m sure many of you are craving for more. Will keep you updated if there are any news on this!

Likwid Biskit at Co-Op 5ive

For those of us who aren’t so fortunate to attend IG Culture’s Zen Badizm Workshop tomorrow night in London, I got this video to share with you.

This was recorded back in 2005 at Co-Op‘s fifth anniversary. Support comes from nearly the same setup as for the upcoming show, IG on keys and drums, Kaidi Tatham on keys and percussion and Heidi Vogel on the vocals.
