SBTRKT & Sampha – Heatwave

You have probably heard this one on the latest show from Benji B, but SBTRKT just posted this to his SoundCloud page. It’s a new track with Sampha, recorded live on the show and I love those rolling drums towards the end.

The entire show is still available on the iPlayer, recordings of the show are also in circulations on the usual sites.

Benji B’s J Dilla Tribute Shows

Looks like Benji B is finally starting to use his SoundCloud account properly. Only yesterday we mentioned that Africa Hitech recording, today we have to mention two J Dilla tributes.

The first mix was aired in February 2006, only a few days after J Dilla passed away. A year later, Benji put together the J Dilla Inspirations Selection in which he plays some of the music sampled by the legendary producer.

Building the Beat

Philadelphia based producer Starkey was challenged by Mary Anne Hobbs to build from scratch while she is on air with her weekly radio show. Recorded at the Maida Vale Studios, Starkey, his percussionist Reso and singer Anneka managed to complete a track just minutes before the show ended.

The outcome is now available for download. Or you can listen to the entire show for one more day on the BBC iPlayer.

Hudson Mohawke Essential Mix

Following the release of his debut album Butter, Hudson Mohawke has already been featured on radio shows like Deviation or Viral Radio. However, it’s safe to assume that many will consider his Essential Mix the best show this year, unregarding how much hate for Pete Tong you got.

Reading the tracklist should be enough to make your jaw drop already. It features two hours of music, including tons of unreleased tunes and enough collaborations to fill the net with gossip for weeks.

Floating Points Ensemble Live Session

Last week, Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide broadcasted the the Maida Vale Session by the Floating Points Ensemble. Since earlier today, you can listen to an excerpt from that session on FPS’s SoundCloud page.

The long-awaited Vacuum EP should be out on 12-inch through Eglo Records on September 20 is available now.

Update I only mentioned it on Twitter, but there’s a rip of the session floating around as well!
