AD Bourke – Redlight

As mentioned before, AD Bourke’s Equal Turns EP was released only a couple of weeks ago. And since the Italian uploaded one of my favourites from the EP, I thought this would be a good occasion to remind you of giving it a listen.

You can buy Equal Turns on vinyl or digital from the Five Fold store on Bandcamp!

AD Bourke – Equal Turns

Last November, Italian producer AD Bourke helped launching Five Fold Records with the release of his Prelude EP. Fast forward several months and his second EP on the Far Out sister label hit the stores. My favourite tracks are the two sitting on the record’s b-side. Available now on vinyl or digital through the label’s Bandcamp store!

AD Bourke - Prelude EP

One and a half year after releasing his Raw Ivy EP, Italian producer AD Bourke marks his return with his new record “Prelude” on Five Fold, a label recently founded as a sub-division of the Joe Davis-operated Far Out Recordings. However, the track above is not among those to be found on the record, but was released as a free download to get a feeling for the real thing. For snippets of “Prelude” check out this video or the label’s SoundCloud page. Out on Monday, November 25th.

AD Bourke – Raw Ivy EP

I was thinking about AD Bourke the other day, but even before I could check if he’s been up to anything lately, he announced this new EP. On Raw Ivy, the Italian producer reflects a broad variety of influences. Jazz, house, funk, hip hop beats, you can hear a bit of everything on the record.

You can pick this up early next week and you can do so on 180g vinyl or digital. It’s available for pre-order at Bleep.

Weekly Bits 6/2012

It’s been a week full of Dilla, no doubt about that. Like every year, people around the world payed tribute in various ways and I’d like to highlight some of them.

Do the Dilla is a free compilation with tracks from Mr. Dibiase, Ta-Ku, Abby Lee Tee and many others.

Another compilation comes from our friends at Two Hungry Ghosts. It’s called For Dilla and comes with beats from AD Bourke and Mecca:83 among others.

We haven’t heard from Waajeed for a while, but the Detroit-based producer relaunched his Bling47 website with a couple of videos worth checking out. Another good read can be found on Egotripland.com, who talked to Waajeed about his favourite Dilla samples.

I’m sure there has been a lot more. If you came across something worth mentioning, feel free to leave a comment.

In other news, I might interest you in Sonali Aggarwal’s documentary From Jack to Juke: 25 Years of Ghetto House. Runs for about an hour and you can expect what the title says.

The latest episode of Stylin’ has Sampha (of SBTRKT fame) on the show. Highly recommend show, Ennio Styles nailed it once again.

Lastly, witness Frenchman Nemoy as he mashes up Freddie Hubbard with Roy Ayers in this live jam called Everybody Loves Red Clay.

Mixtape Monday #27

Good mixtapes have been scarce and while I’m not aware of too many, here are a few I’d like to share with you.

To celebrate the launch of the Hinge Finger label, Joy Orbison did a little mix that you can stream here or download there.

You might have heard about DJ Spinna’s The Best of MdCL mix by now, but there are some more Mark de Clive-Lowe related items. For once the Los Angeles based producer was invited to play at Low End Theory, and then there’s a new mixtape to promote his own night called Church.

Ahead of the TIEF new year’s party, Greymatter has done a mix for them. And you better be quick on that one, as they usually vanish after a few weeks.

If you’re looking for something more quiet, check out this one put together by Jon Hopkins.

For those remembering Sven Swift’s jazz mix from a while back, check out his latest for Find Magazine.

And as a little bonus, here’s a free download of AD Bourke‘s beat tape released back in 2008 on Domu’s TrebleO label.

December 20, 2011 Let me throw in two more mixes: Beat Dimension’s Danny Corn X ASG and another by Julien Dyne!

Brazil is out of the worldcup and that gave me some time to go through all the emails I kinda ignored in the last couple of weeks. Like this one from Error Broadcast, who have just released their second 7-inch.

With Synthesia, Swiss producer AEED delivered a massive debut on the label in 2009. The follow-up comes with two brand new tracks plus remixes from fLako and AD Bourke.

The 7-inch is available now, get it directly from the label or from Berlin’s HHV store. Lots of bonus material can be found on the digital version, including an additional track and even more remixes (one of them is free!)

Mixtape Monday #2

Here’s a summary of the many mixtapes I’ve posted on Twitter throughout the week, just in case you missed them.

Brainfeeder once again sets standards with their latest mixtape, which comes from dubstep producer Martyn, who surprises with a selection of hiphop, electro and anything in between. If you’re looking for real dubstep, Dub War’s new podcast mixed by Headhunter is what you’re looking for. More of this comes from the fine people of Tranquera, who are hosting this mix by Cooly G.

If you’re looking for something more disco, the latest edition of Beats in Space should be your cup of tea. Tim Sweeney invited Stuttgart’s Motor City Drum Ensemble to the show, who also played at Sunday Best the same weekend.

Further I got King Britt’s tribute to the great Sun Ra in the first podcast for Saturn Never Sleeps and a new mix from Italian beatmaker AD Bourke.

Guess that was it, hope there’s some in for you!

This Is Science Mixtape by AD Bourke

You have probably heard of Italian beatmaker AD Bourke from his TrebleO Beat Tape, released back in summer 2008. His latest mixtape was made for the new website This Is Science, brainchild of Dave Farlam, co-founder of TrebleO and one half of Yotoko.

Unfortunately, there is no tracklist available for this (might follow soon), but it features tracks from the mentioned beat tape and others from his upcoming album. If you like Dabrye, Lukid, Flying Lotus or anybody of the so-called Beat Generation, you should fall in love with this collection.

AD Bourke – Someseek

Also, here’s a free track from AD Bourke, who is currently looking for a label to put out his album. So, if you have a label and read this, you know what to do!
