Weekly Bits 42/2009

Earlier this week, the participants of the Red Bull Music Academy 2010 were chosen. Among the lucky winners is L.A.'s incredibly talented Jennifer Lee, better known as TOKiMONSTA. In order to celebrate, Brainfeeder is giving away one of her tracks, another new remix can be found on Jenn's SoundCloud page.

More news from Brainfeeder made the round this week, label founder Flying Lotus is supposed to do a collaboration with UK's Burial. I remember quite some Burial related announcements from the past that never took off, but in this case there's even something to listen to.

The success story of Mayer Hawthorne goes on, this time the Rolling Stone magazine is giving him a feature. At the same time, Mayer has released his new single Green Eyed Love with remixes from Waajeed and Classixx, a new video is also available.

I've seen quite some superlatives for the 50th anniversary of Kind of Blue, but Columbia Records takes the cake with its latest Miles Davis box set. On November 24th, they release The Complete Columbia Album Collection on 70 CDs and one DVD. It will be exclusively available on Amazon.

Legendary disc jockey Greg Wilson finally got himself an account on SoundCloud and gives away a bunch of edits and mash-ups.

The nice people of Warm are talking to New York DJ and radio-host Tim Sweeney, who is looking back at ten years of running Beats In Space and will soon launch a label by the same name.

In other news, you might also want to check out this skateboard by Jeff Mill's Axis Records, a new video by Lefto featuring Dorian Concept and Lukid, or the latest podcast from MUTEK mixed by French re-edit master Pilooski.
