The Reboot Joy Confession - Spirit of the Planets
I don't check the house tab as often as I used to, but when I run across records like this, I wonder what other goodies I'm missing. This is the debut release by The Reboot Joy Confession on Soulphiction's Philpot label.
Unfortunately, I can't even tell you much about the artist (or artists?) as he prefers to remain anonymous. What I can tell you is this: on the a-side you will find a collaboration with the legendary Dwight Trible, known for his vocal contributions to the Pharoah Sanders Quartet or Build An Ark among others. Together they come up with a freeform electronic piece, a spiritual journey made of synthesizers, flutes and Dwight's chanting, held together only by a loose hip-hop beat. The flipside comes with two more house-oriented tracks, a delight for fans of KDJ and the likes.
Spirit of the Planets is available now, I've spotted copies at Rush Hour and Juno Records, Boomkat also has digital formats available.
November 14, 2010 I have two copies to give-away, you can enter the competition here!
