Nosaj Thing – Light #3 (Gerry Read Remix)

Gerry Read and Kyle Hall are the two gents who got to remix tracks from this year’s Nosaj Thing record on Innovative Leisure. I guess I’m more into Gerry’s remix which you can hear above. Both tracks are out now on vinyl and and digital.

Jon Hopkins – Open Eye Signal (Nosaj Thing Remix)

It’s been a while since Drift Remixed came out, but eventually Nosaj Thing is paying back for the remix he got by Jon Hopkins. The original is taken from Jon’s forthcoming album Immunity on Domino and it will be accompanied by several other remixes from the likes of Happa or Luke Abbott.

In other Nosaj Things news, you can now download his collaboration with Chance the Rapper, which was part of Yours Truly’s Songs From Scratch feature.

D Tiberio – Lie EP

Turns out that Los Angeles’ Nosaj Thing launched his own sub-branch on Innovative Leisure, the label that put out his second album Home earlier this year. The first release on Timetable Records comes from Nosaj Thing’s childhood friend D Tiberio and sounds a tad bit more UK than LA, as you can hear above. The digital release is already available on iTunes, a limited vinyl release should follow on March 12, 2013.

Nosaj Thing – Home

Nosaj Thing - Home

Cover Artwork

It’s been three years since his last album Drift came out, but to me it feels much longer. The wait is almost over, following a first teaser, Jason Chung’s second album as Nosaj Thing will be out end of January. Titled Home, the record will be out through Los Angeles-based label Innovative Leisure and it features vocal collaborations with Kazu Makino and Toro y Moi. Here’s a look at the full tracklist.01. Home
02. Eclipse/Blue feat. Kazu Makino
03. Safe
04. Glue
05. Distance
06. Tell
07. Snap
08. Prelude
09. Try (feat. Toro y Moi)
10. Phase III
11. Light 3
You can listen to snippets of the record on the Bleep website, where you can also pre-order a copy on LP, CD and several download formats. The release date for the former two is January 21st, the downloads will be available a day earlier.

Nosaj Thing – Eclipse/Blue

Turns out that teaser from some weeks back didn’t have much to do with the final version of the new Nosaj Thing video. You might not even want to call it a music video, it certainly feels more like the backdrop for a dance performance. But it’s a nice one, don’t you think?  It’s the work of Daito Manabe, Japanese multimedia artist and best known for electric stimulus experiments, or more recently the video for FaltyDL’s Straight & Arrow.

For more insights on the making of this video and an interview with the artist, check out The Creators Project. As for the music, the track featuring Kazu Makino on vocals is already available on 10-inch and digital through Innovative Leisure.

Nosaj Thing – Eclipse/Blue

How long have we’ve been waiting for a new sign from Nosaj Thing and now here it is in the shape of a video teaser. There’s not much info coming with the clip, but apparently there’s a new single coming out on Innovative Leisure, scheduled for a release on October 2, 2012. Eclipse/Blue features vocals from Blonde Redhead singer Kazu Makino and could first be heard on Mary Anne Hobbs earlier this year.

You can pre-order the digital download on Amazon US and Amazon UK, a vinyl release is also planned.

Weekend Mixtapes

Remember when there was a new Nosaj Thing article every week or so? It has been rather quiet lately and that could only mean the Los Angeles-based producer is working on a new album. He recently put together a mix for Mary Anne Hobbs and it indeed contains some new material.

Another album to look forward to is Jimmy Edgar‘s Majenta on Hotflush. On that occasion, the Berlin-based producer sat down with URB Magazine for an interview and mixtape.

A third album to look forward to is the collaboration between Tokimonsta and Suzi Analogue: Analogue Monsta. Scion A/V just sponsored their new video, now it’s Suzi doing a little mix for Okayplayer.

The latest oki-ni podcast offers a warm-up mix from Jackmaster & Ben UFO, recorded live at Amsterdam’s Trouw earlier in the year.

New Pixelord mix for Pixelatique, King Britt for Self-titled, and ISAN’s Easter Mix for something more different.

I guess, the latest Benji B Sci-fi Special deserves a mentioning of it’s own, especially if you liked his Space Odyssey mix from some years back. Support it on the BBC iPlayer before you download it, will you?

And lastly, let me share Frequency Module Volume 1 by our good friends Two Hungry Ghosts.

Nosaj Thing at Festival de Arte Digital

If you’re a regular visitor to this site, you’ve probably seen a handful of videos of Nosaj Thing‘s live visuals.

This one was recorded at last year’s Festival de Arte Digital in Belo Horizonte and I think it’s the first I’ve seen in which Jason talks a bit about the visuals.

For more footage of Nosaj Thing shows, check out the links below this post!

Nosaj Thing vs Aalto

Visual artist Romain Tardy, better known as Aalto of AntiVJ, was responsible for the stage design and projections for Nosaj Thing‘s show at Prague’s Lunchmeat.

Here’s a short making-of including footage from the night:

Get to know Nosaj Thing

Some more of these Nosaj Thing videos we’re posting regularly, but hey – we love that guy! This time he’s been interviewed by the manufacturer of an energy drink, who already brought us videos featuring Daedelus, Diplo and some other cats.

These are only the videos I liked best, but you can find the rest of the series on YouTube.

Nosaj Thing – Drift Remixed

Nosaj Thing - Drift Remixed

Cover Artwork

For the last 6 months (or so), Alpha Pup has been teasing us with a simple image on their website. Its only message was the announcement of Nosaj Thing’s album Drift Remixed – no date or other details attached.

That is until now, as the remix album will be out all of a sudden next week! Among the remixers are usual suspects such as Teebs, Daedelus, Dorian Concept or Take .

Here’s a look at the full track-list:01. Quest (Low Limit Remix)
02. Voices (Dorian Concept Remix)
03. Us (Dntel Remix)
04. Caves (Teebs Remix)
05. Fog (Jamie xx Remix)
06. Us (Jon Hopkins Remix)
07. Coat of Arms (Daedelus Remix)
08. Light #1 (Take Remix)

Below you can listen to the Jamie xx remix. If you prefer a download, go and get it at Pitchfork.

And here’s another one, this time it’s LA’s Take on remix duties.

You know how much we loved the original Drift album, so if the remixes are half as good, you know you’re gonna need that record!

Nosaj Thing’s Drift Remixed is out on November 2nd, 2010!

Nosaj Thing at MIS São Paulo

Another live video of Nosaj Thing, this time performing at São Paulo’s Museu da Imagem e do Som (MIS) earlier this month.

The museum has posted another video on their website, more of those live visuals can be found here.

If you haven’t had the chance to see Nosaj Thing live and you’re living in the U.S., make sure to catch him on his November Tour with Toro Y Moi and Jogger!
