Recomposed New Mixes
Even before Deutsche Grammophon’s Recomposed by Carl Craig & Moritz von Oswald was out, rumours of Ricardo Villalobos remixes made the round. This week, a 12-inch finally proved this to be true – at least one Villalobos remix accompanied by another by Carl Craig made it on the record. As you can expect, both are taking the material originally written by Mussorgsky and Ravel and transform it into more dancefloor-oriented versions, and both break the 10 minutes limit easily. If you ask me, they should’ve added an IsolĂ©e remix as well.
JB Rose – It's Time
Seems like 2004’s Bitasweet release of the JB Rose track It’s Time was reissued recently. For a moment it looked like the first release on the Bugz in the Attic label in a long time. But no – nothing new here, but a good chance to get it if you missed it before.
Dorian Concept – The Fucking Formula
The new Kindred Spirits sub-label Nod Navigators has just dropped The Fucking Formula from Dorian Concept, a 12-inch preceeding the young beatmaker’s debut album When Planets Explode, which is set to be released in January 2009. The single’s title track was already coined a classic on Benji B’s Deviation show and it’s accompanied by two tracks, that will not be on the album.
Joy Jones – The Joy/This Too Shall Pass
The ties between Joy Jones and Bugz in the Attic go back to 2002, when she had an appearance on the Agent K album Feed the Cat (vocals on the title track). Later that year she sang on Zombie (together with Wunmi), the Bugz contribution on the Fela Kuti tribute compilation Red, Hot and Riot (a 12″ on Bitasweet followed in 2003).
Reel People – Outta Love
Already released on their remix album Seven Ways To Wonder (The Remixes), London’s Reel People have released a 12-inch containing the IG Culture remix of Outta Love with Omar on vocals. It’s different from the rinse that has been played on Worldwide or various other West London sets, but it’s clearly the standout tune and it’s on wax.
