It’s weekend time, so here’s a selection of mixtapes I mentioned this week on Twitter.
French label 7even Recordings launched their own podcast series and they kick off with a mix by ENA, whose new 12-inch was only released the other day.
The second release on Jacques Greene’s Vase label comes from London duo Arclight and they’ve done an interview and guest mix for Dazed Digital.
King Britt has been releasing music under so many names, it’s hard to keep up. He just released a new EP on Hyperdub under his Fhloston Paradigm moniker and promotes it with a guestmix for FACT.
As Run Dem Crew is getting ready for the Berlin half-marathon, their founding member Morgan Zarate has done a 20-minutes mix for running.
I wish I had the time to keep up with radio shows, but here’s one I have to recommend. Tim’s You’ll Soon Know is on every Monday night and on his latest show his guests are Om Unit and Laurent Fintoni.
And lastly, check this 2003 Four Tet for Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide.
His Bullionness has uploaded a cut from his forthcoming EP, Love Me Oh Please Love Me, and it’s sa release to look forward to. Listen for yourself.
Sporting six new tracks, the EP will be first release on new Dutch label DEEK and it will be out on April 30, 2012. You can pre-order the 12-inch and digital from Bullion’s Bandcamp page.
So last night it’s been for the last time that Gilles Peterson spoke over BBC Radio 1’s ether, and he ended this show with this tribute by his long-time MC of choice Earl Zinger.
Photos from the last ever show are on Facebook and of course you can listen to the show for the next seven days. Gilles’ new 3-hours show on Radio 6 will launch on April 7th.
Earlier this month, we have restocked our t-shirts (and lowered the price) and while at it, two of these totes have been printed with Rubens Lp‘s illustration. They can hold several 12-inch records and as we don’t have plan to sell these, we want to give them away to a lucky winner who’ll complete the following steps.
First of all you have to share this post on Facebook, or click the Tweet button below. You can do both, it only doubles your chances. On Good Friday, two lucky winners will be drawn by an emotion-free algorithm.
New material from Souleance and I first look-out to their debut album “La Belle Vie” soon to be released on First Word Records.
You can look forward to collaborations with Shawn Lee, Raashan Ahmad and Homecut or proceed straight forward to Bandcamp where you can listen to further tracks and pre-order the item, same goes for iTunes.
As for the video, it was directed by French artist Émile Sacré!
Only today, Russian label Hyperboloid released Pixelord Remixes, a compilation of ten tracks featuring remixers such as Naive Machine, Kuhn, NVG or Deft. I picked the Mirror State remix to listen to, it’s probably my favourite track on the compilation.
You can stream the rest of Pixelord Remixes in its entirety, and if you like it purchase the digital download for only $8.
London’s K15 pays tribute to one of the greatest living musicians (note the emphasis on musician), one of the key figures of the broken beat scene, the magnificent Kaidi Tatham.

For those that still don’t know his name, check out the impressive list of credits on Discogs and get yourself educated by this wonderful mix. To be honest, I wasn’t familiar with a couple of these (or had forgotten about them) and had to ask K15 to complete the trackslist. Big up for including the Modaji joint!
Available for free download for a limited time, be quick!
As you might know by now, the great IG Culture is about to release a new album on Kindred Spirits. Reason enough for Alexander Nut to invite the legendary West London producer on his Rinse FM show to play records. If you missed that one, click here to listen again
Alex Chase’s One-Handed Music is giving away the second Mo Kolours EP for free, the digital that is. You can buy the vinyl at the same link, unless you prefer shopping at Rush Hour, Sounds of the Universe or elsewhere.
Following the very special Julia Holter podcast, FACT Magazine has interviewed the Los Angeles-based producer about her latest album.
I’m very excited to hear there’ll be a new release from Shokazulu, which is likely another moniker of Dego McFarlane and Kaidi Tatham. Should be in stores this week, snippets are available here.
Benji B invited Scratcha DVA on his show to talk about his forthcoming debut album and play some music from it. There’s also a video interview with the man to check out on i-D Magazine.
With spring starting in the Northern hemisphere, we restocked our shirts and sell them cheaper than ever before. If you want to show your love and support this site, please consider buying one!
Not much time to go into this, but I wanted to share these three mixtapes before I sign off for the rest of the weekend.
Hit and Hope‘s very own Klic has made a contribution to Jay Scarlett’s Ampsoul Generation podcast. Doesn’t look like there’s a download, but what’s wrong with a stream?
Second in line is 2562‘s guestmix for Solid Steel in which he plays some gems from Aardvarck, Samoyed and an all new Dorian Concept tune.
The latest Essential Mix comes from 3024 founder Martyn. If you can over Pete Tong’s annoying commentary, it awaits you with a broad selection of dance music. Spotted a download over here.
Oh Dimlite, you know you’re my hero. Your music is in a league of its own and I love how the humour in your track titles is always trying to play it down. Or take this video, utterly brilliant and responsible for the smile on my face.
This one is taken from the Grimm Reality released late last year on Egon’s Now-Again label. Needless to say I recommend it!
It was about two weeks ago when London’s Mr Beatnick gave us a first taste of his forthcoming release. Today he sent over this video put together by Toby Knight.
Looks like I was wrong with my previous claim and this is indeed the full version of the track. The release date remains unchanged, the vinyl will be out on Don’t Be Afraid on March 19, 2012.
Here’s a true rarity only a few people got a hold of when the SBTRKT album was first released. The track Surely was part of a limited package, consisting of the full LP, the CD version and a bonus 7-inch with just that tune.
You would already have to pay ridiculous prices for this bundle, but at least you can stream it from SoundCloud for the very first time.
I love when things develop like this. One and a half years ago, I accidently came across the debut EP from The Reboot Joy Confession, a record that ended up in a give-away, and now (after a second EP) there’s a longplayer coming out in May on Philpot Records.
The record is titled “Absolute III Way Harmonious Enterprise“, holds 15 tracks and skits that boundlessly shift from house to hip hop and back again. It’s one of those album you have to listen to as a whole and I always had a soft spot for that. Recommended to you, my friend!
March 20, 2012 A second teaser is now available on SoundCloud…
April 9, 2012 …and a third one!
May 17, 2012 Pick up your copy from Juno or Rush Hour
I haven’t done much today except sitting on my bed, listening to some old Can longplayers. Suddenly, I was thinking about Andrew Pekler, maybe it was something in Damo‘s voice – I don’t know. Regular Dublab listeners might be familiar with this one, Andrew Pekler has been a frequent contributor to the site. Unfortunately, there’s no download for this one, but maybe you take this as a starting point to discover Andrew’s music on his SoundCloud page.
Leon DVA Smart starring at you throughout an entire video, that alone is kinda hilarious already. The song featuring singer Natalie Maddox is also one of my favourites from the forthcoming album, so let’s give it a proper listen.
Title Pretty Ugly, the album will be out on Hyperdub on March 20, 2012. Until then, you can stream it in full on Hype Machine.
