One of the best things about this year’s Red Bull Music Academy was running into Moscow based DZA, not only for discovering another talented beatmaker and producer, but also for getting to know an overall nice chap with a great sense of humour. Despite his young age, he has already worked with the likes of Om’Mas Keith (Sa-Ra), Hudson Mohawke and Aloe Blacc.
@ErrorBroadcast Sorry guys for not writing a proper review, I simply didn’t find the time this time! You know I love your music and always appreciate your mail-outs!
Today is the last day of this year’s Movement/DEMF and incidently Model 500 are on the line-up for tonight. Here you can listen to their live show from the 2005 Detroit Electronic Music Festival, or Fuse-In as it was called that year.
Recorded at Hart Plaza on May 28, 2005 – download here!
If James Blake and Joy Orbison aren’t brothers, flatmates or lovers, then I don’t know. Whatever the circumstances are, CMYK has to be this year’s Hyph Mngo. You have heard it countless times already, but it hasn’t been officially available until today!
B1. I’ll Stay
Better get your hands on this soon, I have a feeling it might be sold out quickly!
Aug 24, 2010 Boomkat has a limited repress on transparent yellow vinyl in store
With music from Zomby, Lone, or his own Actress moniker, Darren J. Cunningham’s Werk Discs imprint has continously released some highly acclaimed albums in the last couple of years. What most of you will agree on, is that we would have loved to see those albums released on proper vinyl.
Of course vinyl has become a luxury not many labels can afford, but I’m most delighted to see Lukid’s Chords will be pressed on three discs. Among the tracks is not only new material, but also a couple of tracks from last year’s Foma album.
C1. Hair Of The Dog
C2. Child Of The Jago
D2. Through Gritted Teeth
No release date yet, will keep you updated on that!

For the last month or so, I had the chance to preview the debut longplayer from Lorn, coming out in the second week of June. There were quite some albums from L.A. based beatmakers recently, but Nothing Else is (apart from Cosmogramma) one of the few that could stand the test of time. But then again, Lorn already stands out being the first artist on Brainfeeder who is not from the city of angels.
02. None an Island
03. Army of Fear
06. Void I
07. Void II
09. Glass and Silver
10. Cherry Moon
11. Greatest Silence
12. What’s the Use
Sometimes melancholic, sometimes dark, Nothing Else is a remarkable album with quite some strong tracks. The further you listen, the better it gets – all my favourites are in the last third of the album.
Nothing Else was mastered by Warp’s Chris Clark and will be released on all formats through Flying Lotus’ Brainfeeder label. According to distributor Ninja Tune, the album will be in stores from July 7, 2010 – the United States have to wait a week longer. You can pre-order copies from Juno, Big Cartel, Rush Hour and every other good record store.
Gilles Peterson already had Kyle Hall on his show a couple of weeks back. He also recorded a podcast with the young Detroit producer at the Brownswood Basement, which went online a couple of days ago.

03. Theorem vs. Swayzak – Devil Of Rotations
04. Space Dimension Controller – Journey To The Core Of The Unknown Sphere (Kyle Hall Remix)
05. Soulphiction – Liquid Patterns
06. Darkstar – Aidy’s Girl Is A Computer (Kyle Hall Remix)
07. Kyle Hall – Body Of Water
08. Big Strick – Buckle Up!
09. Scott Grooves – Old Skool
I did not listen to that radio-show, but I hear the conversation went much smoother on this podcast. So why not download it?
Wonder what all this sounds like? Check the Free the Robots album Ctrl Alt Delete, released some months back on Alpha Pup.
When it comes to fresh beats, there seems to be a lot going on in Germany. Another fine example is the upcoming Puzzles compilation on Augenringe Unter Dem Dritten Auge Records (AUDDA). A2. Suff Daddy – Vitrin
A3. Retrogott – NoKnow
A4. Twit One – Einermussesjamachen
A5. V.Raeter – Summernight
A6. DJ Adlib – Through The Seagull

B5. Quo Vadis – I’ve Been Loving You
B6. Testiculo Y Uno – Unterschreiben
B7. Beatvadda – Vaginal Ultimatum

And so it’s no surprise this beat puzzle will be distributed through Melting Pot, where it’s now available for pre-order. Limited to only 500 vinyls, you better get your fingers on this quickly – unless you’re fine with a digital download. The release date is June 16, 2010.
At this point I shall admit, that I dislike posting videos of mediocre quality. Today I’ll make an exception to this unwritten rule, as it’s the only way to listen to an unreleased track from Flying Lotus.
Will this track be released? What’s the video? For these and other questions I have no answer. Maybe in time.
You might have heard the snippets on his SoundCloud page. Apart from the Mr. Lager remix, the 12-inch will sport tracks from Altered Natives, Milyoo and Klic. The release date is mid-July and there will also be a digital version available.
Originally released in 1970, Miles Davis’ jazz fusion album Bitches Brew celebrates its 40th anniversary this year. Despite the album’s unconventional style and revolutionary sound, it became Miles’ first gold-album and manifested his reputation as “the Picasso of jazz” (Duke Ellington).
Sony will release a special collector’s edition on four CDs, accompanied by an “audiophile pressing” on double-vinyl, a DVD of the previously unreleased concert of the Miles David Quintet at Copenhagen’s Tivoli Konsertsal, a 48-page book and some other memorabilia. Alternatively, there will also be a legacy edition containing 2 CDs and the DVD.
September 14, 2010 The official website has announced it, the collector’s edition is available starting today!
