It’s good to hear Om Unit exploring Drexciyan rhythms as he does on his latest remix for Russian beatmaker Pixelord.

This is only one of the six tracks off Pixelords forthcoming EP Fish Touch on the Error Broadcast label. Backed up with remixes by Leonard Dstroy (click!) and heRobust, the EP will be out on January 24, 2011.

Huess – What It Cost EP

It’s already been out for a while, but the latest Huess should not stay unmentioned in this place. Released on Inaudible Answer in early December, “What It Cost” is available now on 12-inch and in digital formats.

Addison Groove – Footcrab VIP

Another free track for Christmas, this time coming from producer Addison Groove and the Swamp81 label. This is the VIP version of his omnipresent track Footcrab, which came out earlier this year.

Now grab this download, make sure you also got his mix for FACT and check out the forthcoming Sexual Out/Work It Out.

Merry Mixtapes

If you’re on a trip to your family, this could be your last minute chance to fill up your iPod. We had a couple of merry mixtapes last year, and thanks to an all-week laziness there’s enough good stuff to share with you.

The Crazy Birds have posted a Rush Hour mix by Cool Chris, celebrating the label that just won a couple of awards for the best label of 2010.

This year meant a strong move forward for James Blake, who after a strong series of EPs got an album coming out early 2011. He also played a fine DJ set at the Boiler Room this week, make sure to download that one!

More new music to be expected in 2011 comes from Spacek’s Morgan Zarate, who got an 12-inch on Hyperdub in the making. He also layed down a mix for Andrew Meza’s BTS Radio.

Radio 1’s Gilles Peterson met with one of his musical heroes, jazz pianist and synthesizer genius Herbie Hancock. Listen to what they’ve been up to on the Worldwide Podcast.

Lastly, I got three dubstep mixes for you. The first comes from Peverelist for Futureproofing, the second is the new XLR8R podcast by Oneman, and the third is a promo by Pariah for the NYE party he’s playing at.

Update Also have to mention Fulgeance’s guestmix, which was posted today a year ago. Never growing tired of that one!

Tokimonsta – Autumn Heat

Tokimonsta - Autumn Heat

Cover Artwork

Recently voted as hottest female DJ in Los Angeles, Brainfeeder associate Tokimonsta has put out a new mix CD. Now limited to 500 copies in worldwide sale, “Autumn Heat” was previously on sale on Alpha Pup tour through Asia.

Unfortunately, the CD comes without tracklist, it features music from “Flying Lotus, Andreya Triana, Mike Slott, Lunice, J Dilla, Dimlite, Teebs, James Blake, Ras G, Daedelus, Dâm Funk, Computer Jay, Samiyam and all that jazz.”

I have spotted copies at Sounds of the Universe, Rush Hour and Boomkat, but you might find it as well at your favourite spot.

Dimlite – Vacant

And here’s another Christmas freebie, this time coming from Swiss producer Dimlite. The track in question is a cover-version of A Cloud Mireya, one of Prefuse 73‘s side projects with singer Claudia Deheza.

You can download the track over at the Now-Again website. Merry Christmas!

Ahu, Dilla and Busta Rhymes – Turn Me Up: Love

Sweet remix by Mr. Beatnick here, putting Ahu’s To: Love over Busta Rhymes’ Turn Me Up, which itself was produced by J Dilla.

Limited to 100 downloads only – be quick game over!

The Making of Tongues

As you know, this year saw the death of American jazz drummer Steve Reid. Together with Kieran Hebden he has recorded an album called Tongues. This short documentary is about the making of that very album.

I guess this is a good occasion to remind you of Four Tet’s tribute to Steve Reid.

Björk – Hidden Place (Illum Sphere Remix)

A few days after finally getting around buying the original version, the Christmas spirit has come to Manchester’s Illum Sphere, who gives away his remix of Björk‘s “Hidden Place.”

Grab the download and say thank you, Illum Sphere!

Elan Tamara & Dimitri Grimm – For Medals

We love sharing the latest Dimlite news with you, especially if they come free like the For Medals EP. Together with Elan Tamara, the Swiss producer recorded “three sweet songs as a present.”

Get the full release on Dimlite’s Bandcamp, easy as pie!
